HSO Hiring Volunteer Coordinator

The Harrisburg Symphony is hiring for a part-time Volunteer Coordinator for the 2026-2027 Season.

Volunteer Coordinator Job Description 

Reports to the HSO Patron Services Manager 

• Attends all Masterworks (14) and Capital Blue Cross POPS (10) concerts, as well as Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra (HSYO) performances
• Coordinates with the Box Office Manager for name and contact information of interested volunteers; maintains current list of eligible volunteers 
• Responsible for volunteer training activities, including, but not limited to: 
  • Pre-concert orientation session, for both new and current volunteers 
• Coordinates all scheduling of volunteers for Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra (HSO) activities related to HSO and Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra (HSYO) concerts, including, but not limited to: 
  • Emails (via HSO email address, provided) 
  • Phone calls 
  • In-person meetings 
• Creates volunteer assignments for day-of concerts for scheduled volunteers 
  • Working with volunteers, sets up hall with programs, etc. 
  • Working with volunteers, prepares handicap accessible seating area  
  • Responds to phone calls and emails from current and new volunteers 
• Schedule and Compensation 
  • September through May 
  • $26/hour; 10-20 hours per week variable; reported by timesheet
• Concert weekend schedule: (times are approximate) 
  • Saturday (5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Sunday (12:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.) Concert begins at 3:00 p.m.
