HARRISBURG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES ITS 2024-2025 SEASON, HIGHLIGHTED BY ANNIVERSARIES
Harrisburg, PA (September 4, 2024) – The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is thrilled to announce its 2024-2025 Season of Masterworks and Capitol Blue Cross POPS concerts at the Forum Auditorium, in a year of notable milestone anniversaries. The 2024-2025 Season is filled with much to celebrate,” said Matthew Herren, executive director of the HSO. “The symphony itself will be 95 years old; our music director, Stuart Malina, will celebrate his 25th season here in Harrisburg; and the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra will celebrate 70 years. Throughout the season, there will be special opportunities for the community to celebrate with the HSO, which we will announce soon.”
The HSO’s Masterworks series will kick off the weekend of September 28 & 29, 2024, anchored by Beethoven’s 5th symphony, in a program featuring charismatic young saxophone virtuoso, Valentin Kovalev, who makes his HSO debut with new works by Eunike Tanzil and Takashi Yoshimatsu. The program opens with Johann Strauss’ Fledermaus overture.
On October 19 & 20, 2024, the curtain will raise on the Capital Blue Cross POPS series with a spicy, Latin-inspired program, MAMBO KINGS: Hot Latin Nights! From the sultry melancholy of Astor Piazzolla and the burning Afro-Cuban jazz of Tito Puente to the playfulness of jazz-legend Dave Brubeck and the pop strains of the Beatles, Mambo Kings will guide the audience on a musical tour of the Pan American experience.
Subscriptions for the season offer savings and guaranteed seating at both Masterworks and Capital Blue Cross POPS performances. Single tickets start at $23 and will go on sale September 4, 2024.
